We must work single-mindedly to deliver a great Games: Kalmadi

Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi (Delhi 2010 GTC OC) President Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP, today called on workers to meet, work with the mind focused and ensure the delivery of a great Games in October under I wish the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Addressing the workforce in Delhi 2010 GTC OC headquarters, Mr. Kalmadi said the optimism in the air had increased after the Prime Minister had said in his speech on Independence Day that India should
treat the Olympics as National Day and expressed confidence that the Games will be successful.

"Development of the Prime Minister would ensure that the spirit of cooperation is intensified so that India is able to maximize the opportunity to present their culture, achievements, hospitality and
organizational capacity for the world. We are determined, in fact, to be a memorable experience for all concerned, "he said.

"We must do the best Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games in history and can attain if we work hard and work together to implement the meticulous planning that has been done in the past many months," he said, urging the staff to be positive and above the negativity in the media.

Claiming that national pride is at stake, Mr. Kalmadi said he was very proud of every one of the officials to work tirelessly. "I'm sure of that commitment, we will come out winners, showing our
capacity to host sporting events, making Delhi a world class city and turn India into a nation conscious of sports - beyond cricket, "he said.

"It was disturbing, demoralizing and frustrating distractions, but they have not been allowed to dilute our focus and continue our work," said Kalmadi. "My conscience is clear and we have nothing to hide." All issues are being dealt with by the competent authorities. "

The OC CWG Delhi 2010 President thanked the Prime Minister Dr. Singh for his continued support for the Games and to enhance the Group of Ministers under the Urban Development Minister S. We are looking forward to a fantastic Commonwealth Games: England chef de mission

Commonwealth Games England contingent of the mission Chef Craig Hunter has said that England is waiting for a fantastic Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October.

"We have an impressive list of athletes including Olympic and world champions in our team and we are keen to add more team selections in the near future as the countdown to the Games continues," said the report on the Commonwealth Games site Enland web. "We are looking forward to a fantastic Commonwealth Games.

"In addition to providing a platform for some of the best athletes in the country, Delhi also provide a unique opportunity for some of the country's most talented young people to shine and to experience a multi-sport Games ahead of London 2012," he said.

To date, 111 athletes have been selected to compete for England in Delhi and further announcements are expected shortly in water sports, badminton, boxing, cycling, hockey and basketball.

Commonwealth Games in England is ready to be a team of around 550 athletes and support staff to Delhi for Commonwealth Games 2010, making it the largest team it has taken for a foreigner Commonwealth Games .

Among the athletes selected to date to compete in Delhi are double gold medal winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington Olympic and world champion Liam Tancock Swimming and Gemma Spofforth.

The team also includes Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games gold medal archer Danielle Brown and world number one, squash Nick Matthew and the women's number two Jenny Duncalfe.

The team includes a number of talented teenagers, including 16-year-old weightlifter Zoe Smith, who has broken more than 300 British records, while another elevator, 18-year-old Zoe Newson, has recently obtained a Junior World Cup Championship in Malaysia.

Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi enters Orissa
