
Commonwealth Games England contingent of the mission Chef Craig Hunter has said that England is waiting for a fantastic Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October.
"We have an impressive list of athletes including Olympic and world champions in our team and we are keen to add more team selections in the near future as the countdown to the Games continues," said the report on the Commonwealth Games site Enland web. "We are looking forward to a fantastic Commonwealth Games.
"In addition to providing a platform for some of the best athletes in the country, Delhi also provide a unique opportunity for some of the country's most talented young people to shine and to experience a multi-sport Games ahead of London 2012," he said.
To date, 111 athletes have been selected to compete for England in Delhi and further announcements are expected shortly in water sports, badminton, boxing, cycling, hockey and basketball.
Commonwealth Games in England is ready to be a team of around 550 athletes and support staff to Delhi for Commonwealth Games 2010, making it the largest team it has taken for a foreigner Commonwealth Games .
Among the athletes selected to date to compete in Delhi are double gold medal winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington Olympic and world champion Liam Tancock Swimming and Gemma Spofforth.
The team also includes Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games gold medal archer Danielle Brown and world number one, squash Nick Matthew and the women's number two Jenny Duncalfe.
The team includes a number of talented teenagers, including 16-year-old weightlifter Zoe Smith, who has broken more than 300 British records, while another elevator, 18-year-old Zoe Newson, has recently obtained a Junior World Cup Championship in Malaysia.
