Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi to journey on the holy Ganges


High-power meeting of top officials of the Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi and Mr. Atul Kumar Gupta, Chief Secretary, Govt. Uttar Pradesh was held today in Lucknow to discuss ways Baton Relay for the 2010 Queens, New Delhi travel across Uttar Pradesh later this year. In the first phase of the relay through Bareilly (July 8), Lucknow, Rae Barely, Amethi, Allahabad and Varanasi, while the second phase will cover the relay Lalitpur in Bundelkhand (September 20), Jhansi and Agra before management towards New Delhi.

Unique travel plan for the relay across the state have been proposed and final touches to be placed on the same. Baton plans to cover the distance between Allahabad and Varanasi on the sacred boat across the river - the Ganges.

Queen's Baton Relay 2010 New Delhi, which started at Buckingham Palace on 29 October last year, will culminate at the opening ceremony XIX Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010, on the way up to 70 nations over 340 days, including 100 days of travel to all 28 state capitals of India.
