Mr. Kamadi: “It is our tryst with destiny... yet again”

In his speech after the parade of athletes in the Opening Ceremony of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, Mr Suresh Kalmadi, president of the organizing committee, acknowledged the dedication of all stakeholders, volunteers and the many artists , especially children, who have helped make the ceremony a truly spectacular event.

Noting that a sporting event of such magnitude and scale was taking place in India after 28 years and was the first Green Games in the history of the Commonwealth Games, expressed his confidence that one of the objectives organizing the Games - to regenerate the socio-economic landscape - is fulfilled. Mr. Kamadi expressed pride in the dedication of his team at the Organising Committee, to overcome many obstacles to ensure the Games are conducted efficiently and smoothly. More than 6,800 athletes and team officials from all 71 nations and territories of the Community have shown their faith in India, to confirm their participation. "

He expressed his admiration for the people of Delhi, which he said has shown great patients while the city facilities are being upgraded. "An outstanding legacy has been created to Delhi and India in terms of world-class facilities and a great airport in Delhi Metro Rail and more. His message to the athletes participating in the Games was, "We designed these games around you. Whether the Village or the venues, facilities have been created with you in mind. He concluded his speech with the greatest statesman of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's words: "It is our date with destiny .. again!".
