In his speech after the parade of athletes in the Opening Ceremony of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, Mr Suresh Kalmadi, president of the organizing committee, acknowledged the dedication of all stakeholders, volunteers and the many artists , especially children, who have helped make the ceremony a truly spectacular event.

More than 6,800 athletes and team officials from all 71 nations and territories of the Community have shown their faith in India, to confirm their participation. "
