
Keeping up with the theme of the Green Delhi 2010 Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi (Delhi 2010 GTC OC) today organized the Rally of sustainable transport including ecological means of transport such as bicycles and electric (which running the battery) cars and motorbikes.
Nearly 200 fans of all social classes, young and old participated in the demonstration 8 km long. Cycle rally was flagged off by Shera, the mascot of the Games, the 2010 GTC OC Delhi Headquarters and other which includes the electric vehicle rally residency began in New Delhi Chief Minister Ms Sheila Dikshit. Ms. Dikshit's own driving an electric car Reva. Besides the Chief Minister, Ms Kiran Walia, Health Minister of Delhi. Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Dikshit said that we must devote our natural resources carefully, as there are many species, but only one Earth. She praised the efforts of children, Rwasa, women's organizations and NGOs to make Delhi one of the greenest cities of India and the world.
'Delhi is one of the largest cities. We must strike a balance between the huge population increase and natural resources and spend wisely. Nearly 42% of the clean, fresh water available to Delhi is lost, we must change our habits. Fuel consumption is another reason of environmental pollution therefore battery postage is an option. We must have the courage to demand for clean fuel, so that companies give us the same. "
Mr. Pachauri said: "It is encouraging that many young people today appear to protect the environment. We must work together to ensure that we bring prosperity for all."
Mr Verma said GTC OC 2010 Delhi Delhi is committed to 2010, the first Green Games. Delhi Government's initiative for clean transport such as Metro, biking routes for cyclists, etc., play very important role in improving air quality in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister of Environment launched the Delhi Report 2010. Bonsai were presented to all guests. Rally traveled to different parts of the city to spread the message Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.
